MileSplit’s Preseason Top 25 National XC Rankings, 2012; Boys Individuals
These rankings are based on 2011 XC and 2012 T&F distance performances, and project where athletes will be at the end of the 2012 cross country season. Incoming freshman were not yet considered. Future rankings will be based on relative accomplishments during the season, particularly in head-to-head competitions.
With his impressive first place finish at Footlocker Nationals 2011 we rank Edward Cheserek (senior, St. Benedict's Prep HS, Newark, NJ) number one nationally going into the 2012 XC season. Others including Jake Leingang (senior, Bismarck HS, ND) and Bernie Montoya (senior, Cibola HS, AZ) also have their own high accolades to tout and in the coming high school season they will be forces to reckon with. Both Montoya (8:48.25) and Leingang (8:51.23) have impressive track cred and are also tough on the XC terrain.
