Best times in a 5K and 3 Mile race?

5k in 18.03 at Peter Geraghty  and 17.20 at Regionals in Middletown

Tell us how your training is going?

It went well, ran somewhere over 300 miles total. I sorta just ran whatever I felt like that day, whether it was 8, 10 or 12 miles. I also did most of the twilight races in Westminster over the summer. It was really fun running low key with no pressure.

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I started really seriously running sophomore year, but in middle school I won the cross country county race. I didn't do any running my freshman year because I thought running would be "boring".

Will you be competing out of state this season?

Hopefully, I want to go up to New York this year and run the footlocker race.

Favorite course to run in Maryland?

Mountain run because...it's just awesome. And it's rather scenic. No bad smells.

Toughest course in Maryland?

Hands down, Bull Run. Those hills are killers.

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

I guess I would say Clear Spring last year, it was the first race I won. After that I realized how good I could be.

Favorite Cross Country memory?

There are so many...I wouldn't no where to choose from. The funniest memory I have though, is during practice sophmore year, my teammate Lane Hahn tripped on a long run and basically table topped everyone on the team. It was hilarious.

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

Hmm, I spend a lot of time running...but I enjoy eating and sleeping the most. And going to different places with my friends and family. I LOVE everything about traveling and exploring. If I didn't run, I would hike all the time.

Favorite quote?

There's many quotes. But one I really like is from a book I read written by a local runner in Westminster, Dave Griffin's book "After the Last PR". He wrote,“A destination marks a moment in time, a brief conclusion, but the journey is life itself.”

My summer training was going really well. I was averaging about 65 miles per week when I stepped into a hole and sprained my ankle. I should be back to running come next Wednesday and will be stronger than ever.

Best times in a 5K and 3 Mile race?

5K: 18:26; Montgomery County Championship        3 Mile: 19:16; Maryland State Championships, Hereford

Tell us how your training is going?

It's...going. I've been running about forty to fifty minutes and day (with one long run). I didn't do any workouts, but I went to the English Lake District where  I did lots of running in the mountains. (Which was beautiful!)

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Try for state champion again, build the team's success again, encourage new runners to keep with cross country

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I played soccer for a while, but I didn't ever really have that much contact with the ball. In 7th grade I learned there was this sport called cross country where you just ran across fields, and I realized that that was basically what I was doing in soccer... so I dropped that and joined XC. I didn't start formally training until freshman year though (the discovery of the Easy Run was revolutionary in my motivation - who knew running didn't ALWAYS have to be painful...)

Will you be competing out of state this season?

Possibly at Nike Southeast Regionals with the team

Favorite course to run in Maryland?

Hereford!

Toughest course in Maryland?

Hereford!

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

Last year's states, Octoberfest last year, or the Manhattan Invitational @ Van Cortland Park (any year)

Favorite Cross Country memory?

Sweeping all the county races (freshman, JV, Varsity) last year and also winning states (as a team) obviously come to mind. On less serious note... Freshman year on the way to and from Paul Short, staying up until all hours on the bus watching episode after episode of the Office

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

Play the euphonium or walk dogs
