Wade and Krais go 1-3 for the USA at the Thorpe Cup

Chula Vista, CA - Day Two: Bette Wade held on for the win in the womens Heptathlon with a very strong 6.18 meters in the long jump and closing out with a 2:16.85 800, scoring 6052 points.  Ryann Krais made a move from 6th to 3rd with a 2:09.10 800 finishing with 5831 points.  Hyleas Fountain competed in the javelin on day 2 with a 142-11.  Joe Detmer of the US finished 2nd in the Decathlon with a solid 4:18.69 win in the 1500 meters.  Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee each competed in individual events on day 2 with Hardee going 161-10 in the discus and 16-5.25 in the pole vault.  Eaton went 155-04 in the discus.

 

Day One: In the womens Hepathlon Bette Wade currently leads after one day of competition with 3699 points off of a strong hurdles race (13.77) and high jump (6-00.5).  Ryann Krais lurks in third place with 3436 points.  The long jump and 800 take place today so Krais could jump to the top fairly quickly if she performs well.  Hyleas Fountian and Sharon Day only scored in two events each on the first day with Fountain running 13.12 to win the hurdles and 23.67 to win the 200 meter dash.  Day ran 13.94 in the hurdles and cleared 5-08.75 in the high jump.

 

In the mens Decathlon Nick Adcock of the USA is currently third behind two German athletes with 4043 points.  Ashton Eaton did not score any points in the long jump or the 400 meter dash but he went 10.26 in the 100 dash 6-10.75 in the high jump.  Trey Hardee did not score in the shot put, high jump or 400 dash but he went 10.53 in the 100 dash.
