ELLERY LINCOLN | WOMEN'S 1500M

Ellery Lincoln ran 4:07.06 to finish eighth in the women's 1500m. Wilma Nielsen of Sweden won in 4:05.60, Juliette Whittaker was second in 4:05.78.

Lincoln is a junior at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon. Her mother ran at the 1991 World Championships. Her father ran at the 1997 World Championships. She grew up watching the sport at its highest level from close enough to touch it. She spent this past fall dealing with pneumonia that cost her most of her outdoor buildup, then came back in April to run 4:30.00 at the Nike Jesuit Twilight Relays, the fourth-fastest mile in U.S. high school history. At the USATF U20 Championships two weeks ago she ran 4:07.99 to qualify for the World U20 Team. On Friday in Eugene she ran 4:07.06, faster than her qualifying mark, against a professional field. She is a junior, so there is so much more to come.
