Historic Hayward Field hosted the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from June 10-13 and wow, did the sport have a moment. Collegiate records fell, a world record was broken in the 110m hurdles for the first time in 14 years. Then in Oslo, Cooper Lutkenhaus ran 1:42.08 to beat the Olympic champion by 0.01 seconds. A week was had, and high school track and field was also part of it. 

Andrew Beroset crept within a second of four minutes in the mile. A Wisconsin long jumper broke a state record from 1965. Paige Sheppard and Andrew Jones reflected on seasons that rewrote the record books. And with Brooks XC registration now open, the cycle is already starting again.
