Weekend Rewind: Top T&F Storylines (June 1 - June 7)

Marcelo Mantecon did not come to Seattle to play. He won the 2-mile in 8:44.88 in a battle with Kavi Gibson of North Carolina, who crossed in 8:45.04. The same two athletes finished 1-2 at the NCISAA state championships in May, Gibson winning that day. Mantecon reversed the result and hen doubled back to pace the elite mile, helping Dylan Rowell of Michigan break four minutes for the first time - Rowell crossed in 3:59.93 to win.

MANTECON IN THE TWO-MILE

Carter Smith of Pennsylvania won the boys 800m in 1:48.55, closing with a blistering final surge. Mana Voss of Washington was second in a personal best 1:49.57, Joshua Cooper of North Carolina third in 1:49.63. Paige Sheppard ran a personal best 2:00.65 in the girls 800m - US#7 all-time and a new Brooks PR meet record. Ashtyn Lewis, a future Vanderbilt Commodore, won the girls 400m in 52.63 ahead of Saniah Varnado (52.99) and Sophia Castaneda (53.09). Cameron Tucker won the boys 400m in 46.46.

Andrew Jones set a new Brooks PR meet record in the 110m hurdles at 13.14, with Josh Hamblin second in a personal best 13.24. Jasmine Jackson edged fellow sophomore Nia Armstrong in the girls 100m hurdles - 13.33 to 13.34. Chiara Dailey won the girls 2-mile in 9:49.57, beating Mia Sirois (9:51.68) with a late-race move. Aelo Curtis of Ventura, California won the girls mile in 4:39.11. Kaitlyn Estep was second in 4:40.22. Aubrey Wilson of Michigan won the girls 100m in 11.45.
