Highlights

  • Aisling Cuffe (NY) finished as the top American junior with a 17th place finish and time of 20:15 on the 6000 meter course.  
  • Katie Flood was 19th with a time of 20:18 and Molly Grabill (CA) was 28th in 20:40.
  • Team USA junior women finished an impressive 7th place with 145 points.
  • In the boys junior race Craig Lutz (TX) was 29th with a time of 24:02.  Ammar Moussa (CA) was 32nd with a time of 24:21.
  • Team USA junior men finished 8th with 153 points.

Several US#1 times and top 10 performances at the 2 day GA coaches Invitational this weekend.

Highlights

  • Nikita Kirllov (St. Pius X)  already ranked US#1 at 16-8 in the pole vault, improved his US#1 jump to a 17-2.
  • Brookwood High boys (GA) moved into the US#1 spot with a 17:22.36 in the 4x1600 meter relay.  They also earned a US#1 spot for their time of 7:55.76 in the 4x800 meter relay.
  • Smith Station boys (AL) moved into the US#1 spot in the 800 SMR with a time of 1:30.88.  Parkview finished 2nd in the race and 2nd on the US leader board with a 1:32.15.  Smith Station also won the boys 4x400 meter relay with a US#4 time of 3:19.25.  Starrs Mill High finished 2nd with a 3:21.24 for US#10.
  • Kendell Williams (Kell High School) improved her US#1 of 13.99 time in the 100 hurldes with a 13.66 finish.  Williams also jumped 18-8.25 in the long jump for a US #9.
  • Brianna Vaughn (Jr., Union Grove) ran the 100 meter dash in a quick US#5 11.73
  • Anna Bowles (Sr., Lakeside) ran a 10:56.99 in the 3200 meter run.
  • Parkview girls won the 800 SMR with a US#5 time of 1:48.14
  • Alex Boss (Jr., Westminster) jump to a US#4 in the triple jump with a 39-07.50
  • Just a week after her National Record in the weight throw, Shelby Ashe (St. Pius X) hurled the shot put 43-10 for a US #6.
  • Lee Williams (Maclay School) moved into the US#10 spot in the 100 dash with a 10.60.
  • Jordan Moore (Jr., Union Grove) won the 110 hurdles in 13.90 for a US#3.
  • The boys of Grayson High won the 4x100 meter relay with a US#4 time of 41.81

Falcon Relay, CA

Highlights

  • Ali Billmeyer (Torrey Pines) won the girls 1500 meter run with a US#1 time of 4:34.26.  Brianna Miller finished 2nd with a US#7 time of 4:47.24 and Anne Charles (Carlsbad) finished 3rd with a US#8 time of 4:48.93.
  • Matt Carpowich (Torrey Pines) won the boys 1500 with a US#1 time of 3:55.19.  Andrew Ward, also from Torrey Pines, finished 2nd in 4:05.75 for a US#5.
  • Carlsbad High won the boys 4x800 meter run in 8:03.99 for a US#5

Bob Hayes Invitational Track and Field Meet, FL  "Bullet Bob" Hayes was a trackster turned footballer who was reknowned for his incredible speed.   The meet featured some of the best sprinters in the country with the highlight race being the boys 400 meter dash!

Highlights

  • Only a sophomore, Artie Burns (Miami Northwestern) won the boys 110 hurdles with a US#2 time of 13.66 improving on his US#2 time of 13.77.  Junior Jonathan Jones (Carrollton) finished 2nd in 13.81 for a US#3. 
  • Octavius Freeman  (Lake Wales) won the 100 meter dash in 11.42 matching her US#1 time.  Later she ran a 23.42 in the 200 meter dash bettering her US#1 23.47.  Courtney Walker finished 2nd in 24.51 for a US#10.  (Note: The US top ten keeps changing as Freemen was bumped down to US#2 in the 200 meter dash by Tynia Gaither - see USF/George M. Steinbrenner Invite)
  • The boys 400 meter dash was incredibly fast with 3 top sprinters under 47 seconds. With Hugh Graham Jr (Miama Northwestern) already ranked US#1, Arman Hall (Jr., St. Thomas Aquinas) ranked US#2 and Dedric Dukes  (Sr., Miami Washington) at US#5, the race was bound to be a nail biter.......and it was.  Hall led the way with a photo finish US#1 46.61 followed by Dukes  who finished 2nd with 46.61 for a US#2 and Hugh Gramham Jr. in 3rd with a US#3 46.69.  Amazing!
  • In the girls 400 meter dash, Bria Goodson (Sr., Orange Park) rank a brisk 54.71 for a US#1.  Sophomore Adriana Allen (Dr. Krop) placed 2nd in 55.20 for a US#4.
  • All 8 boys ran under 11 seconds in the 100 meter dash with Broderick Snoddy (Carrollton) leading the way with a10.49.
  • In the 300 hurdles, Keisha Richburg (Sr., Miami Northwestern) moved into the US#2 spot with a 43.66
  • After winning the 110 hurdles Artie Burns came back to take the US#2 spot in the 300 hurdles with a time of 36.96.
  • Lake Wales won the girls 4x100 meter relay in 46.62 moving into the US#1 spot.  Miami Northwestern took the US#7 spot with a 2nd place finish in 47.38.
  • Jones High won the boys 4x100 meter relay with a time of 41.74 placing them in the US#3 spot.  
  • Miami Northwestern won the boys 4x400 meter relay in 3:14.17 for a US#1.
  • Karl Barr (Sr., Orange Park) jumped to a US#1 with a long jump of 24-8.
  • Shannon Spence (Sr., Miami Northwestern) jumped 18-11.25  in the long jump for a US#6.
  • Shehara Parmer (Sr., Miami Northwestern) hurled the shot put 42-04 for a US#8

  • Lakewood Ranch earned a US#4 in the 4x800 with a time of 9:36.79.

Great Oak Distance Invitational, CA

Highlights

  • Freshman Sarah Baxter (Simi Valley) won the 3200 with a US#1 time of 10:37.44.  Baxter also won the 1600 meter run with a US#4 time of 4:58.10.  Baxter was previously ranked at US#2 in the 3200 with a 10:43.49  
  • Mariel Menoza (J.W. North HIgh) finished 2nd in 5:01.80 for a US#7 1600.  
  • Kelly Lawson (La Costa Canyon) placed 2nd in the 3200 with a 10:49.33 and a US#4 followed by teammate Emma Abrahamson who finished 3rd with a US#5 time of 10:50.61.  Katie Johnson (Great Oak) finished 4th in the very quick 3200 with a US# 8 time of 10:54.20.

California Relay, CA

Highlights

  • Karl Baranov (Marina High) won the booys 3200 meter run with a US#6 time of 9:14.43 followed by Paul Ross (Claremont) who finished with a US#7 time of 9:16.73.
  • It was a photo finish in the boys 4x1600 meter relays as 3 teams moved into the top ten.  St. John Bosco won the race with a US#3 time of 17:48.30 followed by Dana Hills at US#4 with a 17:57.99 and Loyola with a US#5 time of 17:57.99.
  • Dana Hills boys moved into the US#1 spot in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:21.02.  St. John Bosco finished 2nd with a US#3 time of 10:26.69 followed by Marina High at US#4 with 10:31.99 and Beverly Hills at US#7 with 10:37.65.
  • Jennifer Owen (West Ranch) won the 1600 meter run with a US#7 time of 5:03.13.
  • Palos Verdes won the girls Distance Medley Relay with a US#1 time of 12:11.66 followed by Dana Hills with a US#4 time of 12:25.68.
  • Avione Allgood (Legacy, NV) moved into the US#5 spot in the shot put with a heave of 46-3.

Asics Triton Invitational, CA

Highlights

  • Camille Chapus (Harvard Westlake) won the 1600 meter run with a US#2 time of 4:53.16.  Chapus also hit the top 10 national leader board in the 800 meter run with a US#6 time of 2:15.41.
  • Ethan Cochran (Newport Harbor) threw the discus 177-1 for a US#8.
  • Mark Sakioka (Newport Harbor) won the pole vault with a jump of 15-6 for a US# 9
  • Esperanza High School boys won the DMR with a US#4 time of 10:30.81.
     

Ohio State Indoor Track & Field Championships, OH

Division 1 Highlights

  • Donovan Robertson (Berea) won the 60 meter hurdles with a US#10 prelim time of  7.93.
  • Hannah Neczpor (North Royalton) won the 1600 meter run in 4:48.44 for a US#8.
  • Sophomore Anthony Young (St. Edward) ran a US#10 time in the 200 meter dash for the win.
  • Maddie Morrow moved into US#1 with an incredible 5-11 jump in the high jump.  
  • Taylor Burke (Medina) jumped 5-10 in the high jump and came within 3 quarters of an inch of matching her 5-10.75 US#2 time at the New Balance Nationals last weekend.  
  • Joey Uhle (Olentangy Li) jumped 17-0 in the pole vault to win the event and his twin brother Chris Uhle jumped 16-00 for second.  Joey already holds the US#2 spot with a 17-3 while Chris sits at US#5 with a 6-6.
  • AJ Hicks (Solon) won the weight throw with a toss of 70-7.75 for a US#6.

Division 2 Highlights

  • Jackie Leppelmeier (McComb) won the shot put with a US#6 47-6-.75.  Leppelmeier already holds the US#3 spot from the New Balance Nationals with 48-8.75 

 

Texas Southern Relays, TX 

 

Highlights

  • Taije Jordan (Lancaster) won the girls 300 meter hurdles with a US#5 time of 43.99
  • Nia Fluker (Christway Academy) ran a US#3 time of 54.73 in the 400 meter dash prelims.  Ashley Collins (Lamar Consolidated) had the 2nd fastest time in the prelims with a 55.74 for a US#8.
  • 2 teams made the top ten list in the 4x200 meter relay.  Fort Bend Marshall won the event with a US#4 time of 1:40.23 followed by Houston Westbury with a 1:40.65 for a US#7.
  • Converse Judson had the fastest prelim time in the 4x400 meter relay for a US#10 time of 3:54.97.
  • Khalyshia mayo (Spring Westfield) won the high jump with a jump of 5-6 for a US#8
  • Essence Torres (Aldine MacArthur) won the shot put for a US#10 43-1.
  • Kenneth Minkah (Desoto) won the 110 meter hurdles with a 14.17.   The time is US#7 but Minkah already holds the US#4 spot with a 13.92.  Minkah went on to win the 300 meter hurdles for a US#6 time of 37.66.
  • Yonas Tesfai (Houston Westbury) won the 1600 meter run with a US#10 time of 4:18.39.
  •  The Fort Bend Hightower boys team won the 4x100 meter relay with a US#4 time of 41.73.  Alief Elsik finished 2nd with a US#7 time of 41.82.
  • The 4x200 meter relays were fast and furious as 5 times moved into the top ten.  Galena Park Northshore won the event with a US#1 time of 1:25.44 (improving on their US#3 time of 1:27.58) followed by Fort Bend Hightower who finished in 1:26.42 for a US#2.  In 3rd place was Houston Yakes who finished with a US#4 time of 1:27.32.  Desoto improved their time but moved back to US#5 with a 1:27.35.  Alief Elsik took the US#6 spot with a time of 1:27.62.
  • In the 4x400 meter relay Desoto had the fastest prelim time with a 3:17.97 for a US#6. Aldine Nimitz had the 2nd fastest time with a 3:18.73 for a US#7. 
  • Anthony Coleman (Alief Elsik) won the boys 800 meter run with a blazing 1:51.91 for a US#1.  Yonas Tesfai (Houston Westbury) finished 2nd in 1:52.57 for a US#2 followed by DJ Beyette (Atascocita) at US#3 with a 1:53.46.  Elmus Campbell (Aldine Nimitz) finished fourth for a US#10 1:55.47.
  • Clinton Kyle (Beaumont Central) jumped 6-8 in the high jump for a US#6.
  • Houston Westbury boys won the Sprinte Medley Relay with a US#1 time of 3:32.91. Arlington Bowie finished 2nd with a US#9 time of 3:36.96 followed by Desoto who also finished in 3:36.36 for a US#10.

 

Hoosier State Relays, IN  (Indoor Meet)

 

Highlights

  • Waverly Neer (Culver Academies, IN) won the 3200 meter run with 10:19.57 for a US#7.
  • Jace Lowry (Martinsville) won the boys 3200 meter run with a US#3 time of 8:58.95.  John Mascari (Terre Haute North Vigo) finished 2nd in 9:00.83 for a US#5.
  • CJ Smith (Lawrence Central High) won the jumped 6-10 in the high jump for a US#9.
  • Westfield High won the DMR with a US#5 time of 10:11.67.  Carmel High finished 2nd with a US#8 time of 10:17.61.
  • Shane Mikesky (Zionsville Community) won the goys 55 meter hurdles with a US#2 time of 7.34 followed by Glen Powell (Lawrence Central) who finished 2nd with a US#8 time of 7.39.
  • Center Grove boys won the 4x400 meter relay with a US#7 time of 3:20.91.  Lawrence Central finished 2nd with 3:21.01 for a US#8.
  • Sydney Clute (Center Grove) jumped 12-6 in the pole vault for a US#10.
  • Tori Bliss (Portage High) won the girls shot put with a US#8 46-3.5.
