Y2K11 Open, GA: Daina Levy, throw1deep, tossed out a monster 67-07 to shatter the HS USR for the 20lb Weight Throw to defeat the former record holder, Shelby Ashe, throw1deep, who was 2nd.  Shelby threw 65-04.25.  Levy's record heave was recorded on her third attempt.

 

Women's Collegiate Games, NY:  In the high school division, Chamique Francis, Cardozo HS, won the girls 55 meter dash with a US#2 time of 6.9.  Lateisha Philson, Benjamin Cordozo, moved into the US#1 spot with a 55 meter hurdle finish of 7.6.  Philson had previously held the #2 time of 8.04.

 

Southeastern Invitational, VA: Keilah Tyson, Chesapeake VA, ran a US#1 6.87 in the 55 meter dash beating her previous PR of 7.01 at the Winter Frolic in early december.  Christal Peterson, Phoebus VA, finished 2nd with a US#2 time of 7.00.  Desmonae Gray, Western Branch VA, won the triple jump with a US#1 jump of 39-09.75.  Gray also won the 55 meter hurdles with a US#5 time of 8.26 followed by 2nd place winner teammate Shamia Lassiter who finished in 8.29 for a US#6 spot.  Taranisha Taylor, also from Western Branch, finished third with a US#8 time of 8.30.  

 

 

CNU High School Showcase, VA:  Friday:  Marques Atkinson, Atlee VA, ran to a US#1 in the 500 meter dash with a 1:05.38.  Twin brother Michael finished 2nd with a US#3 1:06.87.  Rashaun Combs, Bethel, won the girls 500 meter dash finishing with a US#3 time of 1:17.14.  Justin Burke, First Colonial,  won the 55 meter dash with a US#2 time of 6.43. Montasia Golden, Lee-Davis, had the fastest 55 meter hurdle prelim time of 8.34 for a US#7.  Freshman Chantel Ray, Hampton, won the girls 55 meter hurdles tying Golden's US#7 prelim time of 8.34.  Over at the long jump, Ariah Graham, Wakefield NC, jumped 18-4.25 for a US#7.  Currently ranked US#6, Daniel McFadden won the boys 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.54.  Saturday:  Cody Snyder, Lee-Davis, won the 1000 meter run with a US#1 finish of 2:31.77.  Marie Johnston, Midlothian, won the girls 100 meter run in 2:49.17 for a US#4.  Kiara Porter, Tabb, won the 300 meter run in 40.14 for a US#9.  Porter's time is the 2nd fastest on a flat track.  Justin Burke won the boys 300 meter run in an impressive US#1 time of 34.79.  Magan Moye, Cosby, ran a brisk US#3 3200 in 10:50.  Wakefield NC, won the girls 4x400 meter relay with a US#4 time of 3:54.90 followed by Bethel VA, in 3:57.72 for a US#5.

Thursday Night at the Races, NYEdward Cheserek, St. Benedict's NJ, ran a brisk 4:12.8 for a full mile and a 1:53.5 for the 800 meter run.  Both are US#1 indoor times.  Emily de la Bruyere, Brearly Sch NYC, ran the mile in 4:57.6 for a US#2.

 

 

BU Mini Meet #3, MA: This meet rocked with 4 new US#1's!.  Jen Esposito and Nick King, both of Mansfield, set US#1 times in the 400 dash with Jen running 56.62 and Nick running 50.15.  Foot Locker finalist John Murray, Shrewsbury, rolled to a US#1 4:17.93 full mile.  In the 3000 meter run Sean Mueller, Cheshire, was 3rd in section 2 (first high schooler) with a US#1 time of 8:52.30.  

 

 

Morris County Relays, NJ: Nick Vena, Morristown NJ, rocketed a new US#1 shot put with a heave of 71-09.50.  

 

 

Jack Frost Vault Meet, AR: Andrew Irwin, Mount Ida AR, put up a huge leap of 16-07.25 for US#2 while Heather Ballew, Hallsville, won the girls vault with a leap of 12-02 for US#2, improving on her earlier 12-00 mark in the meet below.

 

 

Pole Vault Expo Explosion II, TX: There was some impressive vaulting in Texas on 1/1/11 as well.  Reese Watson, Spring TX, won the elite boys competition with a leap of 16-00 to beat out Shawn Barber, Kingwood Park TX, also at 16-00.  The 16' mark is US#3 indoors.  Also jumping well were Regan Gilbert, Harker Heights, and Devin Farber, Canton, who both went 15-6 which is a tie for US#4 indoors.  On the girls side 4 athletes cleared 12-00 which ties for US#4 indoors.  Chaney Turney, Buda Hays, won the competition while Shelby Poncik, Needville, was 2nd, Kaitlin Petrillose, Austin Mcneil, was 3rd, and Heather Ballew, Hallsville, was 4th.

Girls 1500m Race Walk:  Northport's Suzy Farber set a blistering pace through the 400m, as she dragged Crosby Tillman of Somers (left - file photo) through in 1:42.  Tillman took the lead after the 800m mark and never looked back, finishing 13 seconds ahead of Farber, who was later DQ'd for "loss of contact".  Tillman's time of 6:58.35 is the fastest in the country this year and is a half a second slower than last year's national leader.

Boys Mile - Morning Sections: over 15 sections of boys are still racing.  First 2 heats were won in 4:30-4:31.

Girls Mile - Morning Sections:

Girls 55m Dash: Mysia Jacobs (Paramus Catholic, NJ) 6.85

Boys 55m Dash: Ronald Darby (Potomac, MD) 6.28

Girls 55m Hurdles: Lateisha Philson (Cardozo, NY) 7.90

Boys 55m Hurdles: Richmond Ahadzi (Sheepshead Bay, NY) 7.42

Boys MIle:  Mile Schoedler of Ocean City, NJ wins in 4:15.

Girls MIle: Kelsey Margey of Harborfields looked like the winner with 25 meters left until Ajee Wilson came charging home.  Margey fouled her by moving out to lane two and blocking her with her arm.  Margey then fell, Wilson won, and Tatnall's Pierce stole the 2nd Millrose spot.  Margey was DQ'd.

Boys 4x200m:  Suitland wins in 1:27.79
