To our athletes, coaches, fans, and editors:
In Texas and Georgia, the outdoor season has already been rolling for a month.
In others, the first invitationals are just getting started. Even in states like Maine, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, where the cold might linger and the indoor season is still wrapping up, outdoor meets are right around the corner.
And this season marks an important milestone for us.
As MileSplit enters its 25th outdoor track and field season, we're proud to say we'll be covering every single state across the country for the first time.
That has always been the goal. Track and field is one of the most widely participated sports in the country, yet recognition often reaches only a small portion of the athletes competing every weekend. Our belief has always been that every athlete deserves to have their performances recognized and their season documented.
This year, we're proud to say we have a team in place to help make that happen. Rather than thinking about coverage state by state, we're approaching it as one national effort -- a group of editors, writers, video producers, photographers, and contributors working together to capture the full picture of high school track and field in every corner of the United States.
Across the network, their work will highlight everything from record-breaking performances, the quiet breakthroughs, polls that give your family the opportunity to support you in one more way, writeups that highlight so much of the great work going on, and rankings that tell you how close you are to getting out of your district, region, or state.
At the same time, MileSplit will once again be streaming many of the top meets in the country throughout the spring. From early-season invitationals to major championship meets, we'll be bringing races to fans while athletes work toward their ultimate goals of state titles and postseason competition at the national level. Those moments will also be tied directly to your athlete profile, giving you one destination for your season's accomplishments. It's never been easier to show your grandmother what you spend so much time doing, or share your story with college coaches, if competing at the next level is part of your goal.
Technology is moving quickly right now. AI tools are changing the way media is produced and distributed, and the pace of information has never been faster. While many outlets are racing to automate coverage, we're doubling down on what we believe drives our sport: real people recognizing athletes in every corner of the track community.
Track and field is built on community. It's local meets run by dedicated organizers. It's coaches investing years into developing athletes. It's families traveling across states to cheer their kids on in competition. It's teammates pushing each other through workouts and celebrating personal bests together.
That's the spirit we want our coverage to reflect.
The goal is simple: be present wherever the sport is happening and help give athletes the recognition they've earned.
If you're hosting a meet or have a performance you think deserves attention, we want to hear from you. Maybe you took photos at a competition, have a story about your team, or captured a moment from the season that deserves to be seen. That's the sort of content that will always have a home on MileSplit. And if you're looking to build out your writing portfolio, send us a recap from a meet you ran at or attended. We're always looking for new voices in the sport.
Good luck to every athlete competing this spring. We're excited to be a part of it.
