What does it take to be amongst the top in the country by the time you get to your senior year in high school? We took a look at the top 100 athletes in each sprint event from 55m to 500m to get an overall picture of what the journey of improvement looks like for top athletes over their four years of high school.
Were they like Quincy Wilson (Bullis School, MD) and immediately a superstar as a freshman running 46.67 and 1:02.63 for 400m and 500m during the indoor season in 2023 ? Or were they like Alijah Monroe (West Cabarrus, NC) who started his high school career running 6.81, US#54 amongst freshman in 2023, and taking strides forward each season to run at US#3 6.25 by his senior year? Or, were they like Crue Brown (Manalapan, NJ) who started his HS career off running 56.29 for 400m as a freshman and working hard over his four years of high school to be ranked #2 in New Jersey running 48.61.
