Former Long Jumper Taylen Green Sets NFL Combine Records

Taylen Green, a former track athlete at Allen and Lewisville High School in Texas, turned in some of the top performances at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Green measured 6-foot-5⅞ and 227 pounds and ran 4.36 in the 40-yard dash (.02 faster than previous record holder and former UIL record holder and US Olympic Trials qualifier Robert Griffin III) . He also recorded a 43.5-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-2 broad jump, all reported as combine records for quarterbacks dating back to at least 2003.

Despite posting a 43.5-inch vertical at the combine, Green did not compete in the high jump in high school. Instead, he focused on the long jump and triple jump.

After beginning his high school career at Allen, he transferred to Lewisville and opened the 2020 outdoor track season with a runner-up finish at the Flower Mound Jaguar Invitational followed by a 1st place finish at the Northwest Texan Invitational with a personal-best 23-5.

His final competition came on March 5, 2020 where he closed out his track career at home with a second place finish at the Lewisville Max Goldsmith Relays. Six days later, nationwide shutdowns halted the spring season, and he did not compete again.

Green's high school personal bests included 23-5 in the long jump, 44-3.5 in the triple jump, and 21-7 indoors. He also ran the 400 meters once in competition, clocking 55.02.

After high school, Green became a four-year college starter, spending two seasons at Boise State before transferring to Arkansas, where he most recently threw for 2,714 yards and 19 touchdowns while adding 777 rushing yards and eight scores on the ground.
