Heading into the 2024 HOKA Festival of Miles, no high school girl had ever run sub-4:30, not even North Rockland's (N.Y.) Katelyn Tuohy accomplished the feat, running what was then a national record of 4:33.87.

Last May, Ventura (Calif.) superstar Sadie Engelhardt finished runner-up in the Drury Hotels Professional Women's Mile, running a new national record of 4:28.46, marking the first sub-4:30 performance in high school girls' history.

A year later, Timpview's (Utah) Jane Hedengren, one of the greatest high school athletes in history, broke everything open, running 4:23.5 to lower the national record by five seconds.

Union Catholic's (N.J.) Paige Sheppard, Westford Academy's (Mass.) Abigail Hennessey, and Montgomery's (Calif.) Hanne Thomsen all joined Hedengren in the new-look top 10.

The trio ran 3:33.67, 4:34.69, and 4:35.63, respectively, to become the No. 4, No. 7, and No. 10 fastest girls in prep history.
