Thursday preview
The boys and girls weight throws will be loaded for the finals tomorrow. Davis Fraker, McIntosh GA, will be making the trip with his Throw1Deep teammates. Davis is ranked US#2 with a mark of 78-10. He is also US#1 in the 35lb with the high school record of 65-8.25. Akil Mills, Grayson GA, will be competing as well and is US#7 with a throw of 66-8.5. Also competing will be Caleb Whitener, East Paulding GA, who is US#14 63-2.75.
In the girls weight throw Shelby Ashe, St. Pius X GA, is the favorite, as she is ranked US#3 in the event with a throw of 58-2. Patrice Gates, Villa Rica GA, is ranked US#7 with a mark of 49-2.75. Monica Phillips, Pope GA, is ranked US#12 with a mark of 47-7.5.
Chase Caulkins, Wood River ID, boasts 9:21.92 two mile PR already this season, and will run in the first of four heats. Kelsey Braithwaite, Box Elder UT, will highlight the first of three girls heats.
Kristina Vanderhout, Notre Dame Prep AZ, is the headliner of the girls 1600 field with a 5:00.26 1600 meter PR. There are 8 heats of the girls 1600 meter run.
Eric Fitzpatrick, Boise ID will highlight the field. Eric has run 4:17.80 for one mile. There are 14 heats of the boys mile run.
