Texans Shine at UIL Area Championships
Texas athletes delivered big-time performances over the weekend as UIL Area Championships heated up across the state from Friday to Sunday. From jaw-dropping jumps to lightning-fast relays and sprints, the weekend was packed with elite marks that climbed the national rankings. Here's a breakdown of some of the top performances that made waves on the boys and girls sides.
Boys Highlights

Etoro Bassey cleared 7' 2" in the high jump at the UIL 6A Area 19 & 20 meet, good for the U.S. No. 2 and Texas No. 1 mark this season.

Micah Lockett followed with a 7' 1" jump at the UIL 5A Area 09 & 10 meet, earning the U.S. No. 3 and Texas No. 2 ranking. They are now two of only eight boys this season to clear 7 feet.

Katy Mayde Creek ran 3:12.58 in the 4x400m relay, ranking seventh nationally.

Houston Cyp. Falls posted a 1:24.28 in the 4x200m, also placing seventh in the country.

Mansfield Timberview clocked a 40.21 in the 4x100m relay, the fifth-fastest time in the U.S. this outdoor season.
Girls Highlights

Kylah Woods ran 11.25 in the 100m at the UIL 6A Area 21 & 22 meet, the third-fastest time in the country this season.

Alyssa Jones recorded a wind-aided 23.04 in the 200m at the UIL 6A Area 19 & 20 meet, ranking sixth among all-conditions performances nationally.

McKenzi Roberson and Jaden Small ran 23.14 and 23.20 in the 200m at the UIL 6A Area 21 & 22 meet. Roberson now ranks fourth nationally for wind-legal marks and Small sits fifth.

Lailah Hudson clocked 41.65 in the 300m hurdles at the UIL 6A Area 21 & 22 meet, the fifth-best mark in the U.S.

Olivia Chamizo threw 163' 7" in the discus at the UIL 6A Area 05 & 06 meet, the third-best throw in the nation.

Caitlyn Cavitt jumped 20' 4" in the long jump at the UIL 6A Area 07 & 08 meet, ranking fifth nationally.
