We are now through the major invitationals of the indoor season, and almost all of the big names have dipped their feet into indoor track.
Millrose capped off those invitationals with some of the best matchups of the year, bringing about seven new National Records, but plenty happened elsewhere to keep the competition hot. Now we dig into qualification season, as athletes return home to prep for their local championships, in the final build-up to Indoor Nationals, and eventually, the Spring track season.

A Closer Look at the COROS MS50 Rankings
The battle for the top spot in the rankings was hard fought. Andrew Salvodon has done almost everything he could possibly do. He defeated an Olympic Gold Medalist and twice beat the prior MileSplit 50 top-ranked athletes. It bumps him up to Number 2 on a very illustrious list, after a Millrose outing shy of his National Record. As he heads into State Meet Season, he will branch out of the 500m, and the 300m/400m will test where he stands at the more commonly run events. And it took a ridiculous run by sophomore Cooper Lutkenhaus to topple him for the top spot. But that battle for #1 is not over, and if Salvodon can throw down similar times in other events, the rankings become clear.
Before Millrose, Latham's Coach made note that he was at the strongest he's ever been. That strength pulled him away from a talented field at Millrose, on a very fast track, and just tantalizingly short of that 4-minute barrier. He is now US #1 for the mile and has taken down the major names in the process. He'll have another shot down the line at Nationals, but his win jettisoned him up the rankings.
The northeast doesn't always get the street cred in the sprints that it deserves, and Johnson has slowly been putting the country on notice up north. This weekend, when the boys of Texas came to the Tri-State, Johnson defended his home turf. He was less than half a second off the National Record in the 300m, set by another Nor'Easter, and also is ranked top 5 in the 200m.
