The latest edition of the high school cross country season exceeded quite a bit of expectations over the course of the season, with all-time bests and historic performances coming week after week.
In the midst of the elite performers and their respective performances were the thousands of girls that notched new PB's at some during the season, taking a lot of time off of their previous bests.
Kelly McIntire, a sophomore standout from Point Loma (Calif.) ended the year as the nation's top improver, sporting a shiny PB of 18:39.2 to go along with her breakthrough season. As a freshman, McIntire's lone 5k performance was 25:40.6, making for a 7:01.4 improvement between her first two years of high school competition.
