There has been a lot of attention paid to the UIL 6A boys 4x100 relays this year, but the UIL 5A boys teams can not be overlooked.

In Region 3, two teams ran in the 40s with Fort Bend Marshall leading the way with a 40.33 and Richmond Randle dropping a 40.82 in the first heat.

What will really have the finals coming with more anticipation is having Mont Belvieu Barbers Hill chiming in with a 41.08 and Killeen Shoemaker 41.14 as well.

Last year at the Area Championships, Marshall ran 39.80 and placed third at the state meet. They have three quarters of that relay back this season.

Red Oak won the state championship in this event last season with a time of 40.29 and they had the fastest time entering today's Regional prelims.

Shoemaker has run under 41.0 this season; they went 40.99 at the UIL 5A - District 22 meet.
