BOSTON -- Quincy Wilson might have looked a little nervous standing on the startling line of the 400 meter final at The TRACK in Boston at New Balance Nationals Indoor on Sunday.

But with good reason.

In less than 45.92 seconds from the gun firing out, he'd rewrite the record books.

The Bullis sophomore went on to torch the field -- and the clock -- stopping in a new U.S. high school indoor national record of 45.76. Wilson's performance sliced over a tenth-of-a-second off Elzie Coleman's 20-year-old record of 45.92.

You read that right.

The previous record was run at the Simplot Games ... in 2004.

Wilson's performance marks only the second time a quarter-miler has broken 46 seconds indoors. It simply isn't done.

But Wilson might be, simply, a generational talent.

Last year, he won this event in 46.67 before going on to split 45.07 at the Penn Relays in April and ran 45.87 outdoors in the prelims at the USATF U20 ChampionshipsHe finished fourth in the finals.
