WATCH: A New 60m National Class Best For This Ohio Freshman

Talk about a freshman moment.

Jamier Averette-Brown took down OATCCC Division I favorite Koy Beasley in the 60 meter final on Friday at the Ohio state indoor championships, scoring a new freshman national class record of 6.75 seconds.

The performance, a new career-best for the Wayne High School first-year athlete by five-hundredths of a second and a U.S. No. 10 time, surpassed Tyrese Cooper's national class record of 6.78 seconds from 2016.

More importantly, though, Averette-Brown also took down Beasley, who entered with U.S. No. 5 performance of 6.72 seconds from Feb. 4.

Friday's efforts marked the freshman's eighth meet of the season and his 13th and 14th attempts at the distance over the winter season.
