As February comes to a close, much of the nation is getting ready for the start of the 2024 outdoor season.

With that being said, which teams are returning this season with the best 1,600m depth on paper? 

As the only team in the country to have their top three returners under 4:50, Flower Mound (TX) is coming into the season as the favorites -- to potentially down the national record -- with a ridiculously loaded returning 1,600 meter girls squad. 

Led by twins Samantha Humphries and Nicole Humphries, the pair own personal bests of 4:40.10 and 4:44.91, respectively. 

The top four returners of Flower Mound combine on paper for a 19:23.98, one of only two teams in the country under a team total of 19:30. The current national record in the 4x1,600m is held by Saratoga Springs (NY) and stands at 19:48.59 from 2022.
