In June of 1964, Wichita East's (KS) Jim Ryun became the 13th American and the first high schooler to ever run under four minutes in the mile.
Since Ryun's monumental feat, only 19 high schoolers have joined him under 4:00 across the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
Up until 2015, a mere five high schoolers had gone sub-four, but since, 15 have broken the barrier and have etched their name in distance history.
Here are all 20 athletes who have ran sub-4:00.
