Hello, Ellie Shea

After this week's holiday, some may be attending a Turkey Trot, while others may be emerging out of the shadows to go for a Foot Locker Northeast title.

And the latter is exactly what this Belmont High School senior plans to do.

If this upcoming Saturday means anything, it means getting a chance to see Ellie Shea for the first time in 2023, and for the final time at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional.

Shea certainly has her eyes set on the tape -- this year held at Franklin Park after years at Van Cortlandt in New York City -- and toward nationals.

So what to expect? Shea did not race ahead of Northeast last year and still managed to take home both the regional title and a second-place finish at nationals.

Shea will be ready to go.

Who else will she face? Orono's Ruth White, who took fourth last year at regionals, is here and is amid her best season yet. She is undefeated and dipped under 17 minutes twice.

White has raced quite a handful of meets this season, owning each one, so she definitely is comfortable with competition.
