Ohio Recruit Maira Scott Inks With Southern California

Maira Scott, MileSplit's No. 10 recruit in the Class of 2024, is headed to Los Angeles next fall.

The Holland Springfield (OH) senior signed with the University of Southern California on Wednesday during National Signing Day, joining the likes of Olivia Pace -- her teammate at the track club Ohio Heat -- along with Mia Brahe-Pedersen, the No. 1 recruit in the senior class.

The trio could form a dynamic sprints corps for the Trojans, among the annual players at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships.

Scott is coming off a breakthrough outdoor campaign that saw her log two personal best times of 11.41 and 23.20 seconds at the Ohio State Championships, earning her two state titles and two Ohio No. 1 times.

Those performances, however, were also U.S. No. 9 and 10 in the country, solidifying Scott as an elite prospect. Before deciding on USC, she narrowed down her other four considerations to Ohio State, Tennessee, Michigan and TCU.

Her statewide performances last year were also within an earshot of Ohio state records at both distances, as she stands us 0.03 seconds shy of Abby Steiner's record of 11.38 in the 100m and less than a half of a second from Steiner's 22.73 in the 200m.
