This much is true: Emily Wisniewski of Corvallis, Oregon, is taking her state, and perhaps the nation, by storm.
At the Woodbridge Cross Country Classic two weekends ago in California, she produced a new best of 15:56.80 for the 3-mile distance, one of only nine girls in the race to go sub-16.
"It was a great experience and a good feel for what regionals and nationals will look like," Wisniewski told MileSplit recently.
That level of competition with elite girls could foster new personal bests for the Crescent Valley High Schooler's season. In fact, it could even lift Wisniewski into the conversation as one of the nation's best cross country runners.
