The North Carolina State women have won the past two NCAA cross country titles thanks in large part to coach Laurie Henes' ability as a recruiter.

The Class of 2023 cycle was no exception. 

Henes has put together another impressive group of recruits. Last month, the Wolfpack added to their haul the late addition of Good Counsel (MD) star Leah Stephens.

Stephens had originally signed a national letter of intent last fall with Florida State, another Atlantic Coast Conference school, but she changed her mind a few weeks ago and will be running instead for NC State under Henes.

That's a big coup for the Wolfpack. During the past high school year, Stephens was one of the most improved distance runners in the country and established herself as an elite recruit.
