The cross country season is quickly approaching.
We can already tell this is going to be a special year.
There are many top girl returners this year from the Champs Sports Northeast region. There were 31 girls last season who dipped under 18 minutes for 5K.
One of the top returners this year is Ellie Shea of Emerging Elite (MA). She won the regional title last year and then finished second over at the championships. At the Pan American U20 Championships, Shea won the 1,500m and 3K titles over the weekend with a 4:16.61 and 9:05.78.
Another competitor in the mix is Emma Zawatski from Freehold Township (NJ). Last season the New Jersey state champion went 17:09 for 5K and finished 10th at the regional meet. She later finished 23rd at Champs Sports Nationals.
