Add another accolade to the resume for Issam Asinga.

On Thursday afternoon, Gatorade announced Asinga, the Montverde Academy (FL) grad and Texas A&M commit, as the National Boys Track & Field Player Of The Year for 2023.

It was a landmark year for Asinga, who sprinted his way to records and all-time efforts.

His resume for the season encompasses wind-legal personal best of 10.02 for 100m and 19.97 in the 200m, a national high school record in the 200m and four sub-10 second all conditions efforts at 100m.

He's the first athlete to ever dip under 20 seconds in the 200m while representing their U.S. high school and now ranks as one of the top combined 100m-200m runners in American prep history.

But that also doesn't even include his win over World Champion Noah Lyles in the 100m at the PURE Athletics Spring Invitational where he clocked an all-time, wind-aided best of 9.83 (+2.6).

It's the fastest prep mark ever recorded in all conditions for 100m.

Asinga would go on to win a New Balance National Outdoor title in the 100m in 10.05 (+1.6) and take second to Lyles in the pro men's 200m field at the NYC Grand Prix with a mark of 20.25.

Off the track, Asinga holds a 3.15 GPA and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, DiscoveryBound National Leadership Council and within Montverde Academy.

As part of receiving the award, Asinga will receive a grant to give to a Gatorade social impact partner of his choosing as part of the company's Play It Forward initiative.

* Asinga beats out Noah Lyles to win the men's 100m at the PURE Athletics Spring Invitational, clocking 9.83w.
