The athletes doubling in the 800m and 1,600m this season have been putting their best foot forward. 

So far this season, there are 26 girls who have combined 800m-1,600m performances that are faster than 7:00.

Sophomore Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura (CA) has posted top marks in the nation for both events. Her 2:06.71 in the 800m is the seventh-fastest time in the nation. However, Engelhardt's name is at the top of the leaderboard this season in the 1,600m as she clocked a 4:36.82 at Mt. SAC Relays. She's the only girl this year who broke through the 4:40 barrier in this event. Engelhardt's performances total 6:43.53 when combined. 

Another individual who has a combined time faster than 6:50 is Olney Richland County's (IL) Tatum David. The Virginia recruit holds a 2:05.29 personal best in the two lap race while she produced a 4:40.36 best in the 1,600m.
