Before his graduation from Knoch High School in 2017, Jordan Geist cemented himself as one of the nation's all-time best shot put throwers.
The Pittsburgh-area athlete -- who is coming off an SEC title this weekend with the University of Arizona -- was a six-time PIAA champion in the circle across the discus and shot put.
But it was over his last two seasons where he really made a dent in the record books in the latter event.
Geist converted on two 70-foot-plus throws over his last two state championships, putting him on a list of the top 50 throwers in state-title efforts across the U.S. over the last decade.
As for this year, San Antonio East Central's Michael Pinones also finds himself on this list, though his only state title came in 2023 with a mark of 65-11.5. The previous year, he actually threw further (66-5.75), but came up ...
