It was a historic 3,200m performance for Simeon Birnbaum just over a week ago.

The Rapid City Stevens (SD) star took to the Arcadia Invitational known for its elite-level 3,200m fields looking for something special. And in the final 100 meters, the sub-four-minute miler made it happen.

Birnbaum closed hard and surged ahead of Daniel Simmons for the win in 8:34.10, which ranks at US No. 2 all-time in the outdoor event.

That astonishing performance earned Birnbaum the National Boys Performer Of The Week award in the third poll of outdoors with 54-percent of the vote.

The performer polls continue as we see more athletes surge into nation-leading spots for their respective events, both on the track and in the field.
