Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Stars In SportsCenter Commercial

Former Union Catholic (NJ) star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is the featured athlete in a new ESPN "This is SportsCenter" commercial that was released on Friday.

In the commercial, SportsCenter anchor Hannah Storm approaches McLaughlin-Levrone in her cubicle and asks if she has a minute to catch up. McLaughlin-Levrone replies by saying she has 51.46 seconds right after lunch, 51.41 seconds later in the afternoon or 50.68 seconds right now.

Those times are the last three that McLaughlin-Levrone clocked when breaking the 400m hurdles world record.

Over the last two years, McLaughlin-Levrone has lowered the 400m hurdles world record four times, winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon last July, registering that latter victory in 50.68 seconds.

Prior to McLaughlin-Levrone's recent tear, New York-native Dalilah Muhammad held the world record in the 400m hurdles at 52.16.

McLaughlin-Levrone is only the second track and field athlete to be featured on one of ESPN's "This is SportsCenter" commercials. Double sprint world record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica was the first, appearing in this 2010 spot.
