Nyckoles Harbor Clocks Nation-Leading 300m At VA Showcase

Virginia Beach, VA -- It was just a few weeks ago when Nyckoles Harbor played in the Under Armour All-America game in Orlando, Florida. He was suited up with football pads and cleats with a No. 8 jersey on.

The five-star football recruit and MileSplit's No. 5 ranked athlete on the Class of 2023 list had a few track practices underneath his belt going into this weekend. That didn't just stop him from shaving nearly a second off his personal best, but along the way, he clocked a US No. 1 performance in the 300m.

At the VA Showcase Friday afternoon, Harbor stepped onto the Virginia Beach Sports Center track in lane five. His 6-5 stature carried him around the track to the victory in 33.90, shattering his previous best of 34.71 from the DCSAA Indoor Track Championships last year.

With two other sections following his, he had to wait until the final heat to see if he solidified the victory. The final section contained Mekhi Gammons and Zyaire Nuriddin, two of Florida's fastest sprinters.

Nuriddin clocked the second-fastest time of the day with a 33.92 and Gammons crossed the finish line in 34.22 to be sixth overall. Earlier in the heats Southwest Guilford's (NC) Christian Parker finished with the third-fastest performance of 34.01 from the sixth section.

Harbor's weekend isn't over as he will be competing in the 4x200m with his Archbishop Carroll's (DC) teammates.
