As we continue to look into top returners for different specialties there are a handful of standout performers returning this 2023 indoor season in the distance events.
Looking into the 3,200m, Hunter Jones who finished tenth at both Team Cross Country Nationals and Champs Sports Nationals, returns as the top boy with a 8:55.85, making him the only boy to go under the 9-minute barrier.
However, Brian Gamble of Brimmer and May School (MA) is right on his heels as he clocked a 9:02 at NSAF Indoor Nationals in March. Last season, there were 69 boys who ran faster than 9:30.
On the girls side, there are two Michigan runners who dipped under 10:10 at this distance. Rachel Forsyth of Ann Arbor Pioneer (MI) and Arianne Olson of Holland West Ottawa (MI) ran 10:02 and 10:08 at the MITS - GVSU #5 meet.
