These Transfers Will Make Immediate Impacts For Teams In XC

Ty Garrett

Valor Christian (CO) to Center Grove (IN)

The addition of Garrett significantly elevates Center Grove's status as a national contender as he returns to his former school just three years after debut in XC.

The incoming senior and Wake Forest commit competed for Center Grove as a high school freshman before moving out to Colorado to join a talented Valor Christian team. It was at the Highlands Ranch school where he developed into their leading boys distance runner. Last time out, Garrett clocked an all-time best 14:58.32 for 5K at the RunningLane Cross Country Championships in 2021, bookending a stellar junior season that included a runner-up finish at the Colorado 5A State Cross Country Championships.

Now, Garrett moves back to Indiana and his former squad looking to replicate some of the same success.

Garrett joins a squad of other talented athletes looking to lead Center Grove to a state title and a top national finish, including two athletes with personal bests under 16 minutes -- Parker Mimbela and Griffin Hennessy.

Add Garret to the mix with his sub-15:00 5K speed, and Center Grove has a strong front pack that could compete with the likes of Carmel, Brebeuf Jesuit and others. Garrett could potentially be Center Grove's missing piece that propels them to a state team title.

Garrett and the rest of the Center Grove top squad will open up their season this weekend at The Hometown Savings Bank State Preview in Indiana.
