After a two-year hiatus, Team Cross Country Nationals looks to be making a return this fall.
On Monday, the organization that puts on Team Cross Country Nationals announced the meet will return for 2022, taking place on Dec. 3 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland, Oregon.
To make the 22-team field for nationals, teams compete across nine regional meets to secure their spots -- the California Interscholastic Federation Championships being their own qualifier.
The race also includes 50 individual male and female slots up for grabs based on placement at regional competitions. Team Regional competitions will take place between Nov. 12-26 to determine the national championship field.
Team XC Nationals last took place in 2019 and saw Saratoga Springs (NY) and Newbury Park (CA) take the overall girls and boys team titles. Current collegiate stars Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland, NY) and Nico Young (Newbury Park) were the individual winners.
