Ohio athletes are rounding into form this indoor season.
On Saturday at the second Youngstown State High School Open series meet, Canfield (OH) senior Nick Plant captured a U.S. No. 2 time in the 800m, posting a winning time of 1:53.10 on a 300m flat track.
Plant, the nation's top returning runner in the 800m, could be in line for a stellar year. The Virginia Tech signee was one of three boys to break 1:50 last year, clocking an outdoor best of 1:49.39. It was actually one of two sub-1:50 efforts on the season for Plant.
