'Electric' is how most people would describe Natalie Cook's performance at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships at John Hunt Park on Dec. 4.
Before the race, there was never a clear winner on paper. But as the race unfolded, it quickly turned into 'The Cook Show.'
Just a little bit after the first mile, the Flower Mound senior started to pull away from the front pack, which then became a race against the clock.
Cook crossed the finish line in a 16:03.93, which was the second-fastest all-time 5K in history behind Jenna Hutchins, who ran a 15:58 on the same course in 2020.
A week later, Cook continued her undefeated 5K season by being a double champion at the Eastbay Cross Country Championships.
