With the Middle School National Championships arriving on the calendar this weekend at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky, we feel it's time to break out the national rankings.
Which middle school boys athletes are currently the best runners in the country?
We've got that answer for you: Cleveland (TN) Middle School's Owen Clemons earned a MS No. 1 5K time of 15:46.06 in September at The Southern Showcase.
Of course, middle schoolers run a variety of distances, from two miles to 3,200ms to 4Ks and 5Ks. We have decided to look at the top 1,000 runners in the 5K thus far over 2021.
Clemons is the only athlete in the ranks to dip under 16 minutes. He's won six out of seven races across the fall.
