In 2019, Caroline Wells ran at the FSU Invitational for the first time as a sophomore. She finished in eighth-place, securing a time of 18:02.50 for 5K.

But a year later, Wells learned a lot from that performance. She showed significant improvement in 2020, finishing in a time of 17:24.20, which was nearly a 40-second PR at the Apalachee Regional Park course in Tallahassee, Florida.

In doing so, she grabbed the course record, which was previously set by Alyssa Hendrix of Riverview with a time of 17:31.60.

Wells' performance led Winter Springs (FL) to the team title with 49 points and a 19:09 average for 5K.

This Saturday, Wells will look to defend her title in her final appearance at the meet over her high school career.
