The Kiski Area Invitational scheduled for Friday at Northmoreland Park in Apollo, Pennsylvania, was canceled after a body was found in the park, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review first reported.

Police shut down the park after the body was discovered Friday, thus prompting the cancelation of the meet, which was set to go off at 11 a.m.

When contacted this afternoon, Westmoreland County Park Police said "no foul play was detected at all." Police released no additional details "out of respect for the families involved."

Kiski Area head coach and meet director Tom Berzonsky said he was at the park "working on some final preparations for the course" when Northmoreland Park officials notified him about 7:30 a.m. that the park was closing for the day. The meet was then canceled, with Berzonsky notifying teams via Twitter minutes later.

Berzonsky said the meet will not be rescheduled because of conflicts within a tight 2021 XC schedule.
