It's early in the season but it's never too early to look and see which athletes have improved the most from year to year.
There have been a lot of strong improvements but no one in the top 500 has improved more than Frisco Independence High School's (TX) Brighton Mooney has. The senior ran 20:10.87 in 2020 and this season has already run 18:07.34 for over a two-minute improvement.
At the very top of the 2021 rankings, athletes are also improving including Air Academy High School's (CO) Bethany Michalak. The sophomore has already seen a 27-second improvement from her 2020 PR at this time last year to her 2021 PR.
