Jonathan Simms Inches Closer To 400m National Record


HUMBLE, TEXAS -- Impact Track's Jonathan Simms lowered his overall personal best in the 14yo 400m on Friday in the semifinals, scorching the track with a time of 49.65 to advance to the finals on Saturday at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. 

Simms previously owned a personal best of 49.87 seconds. On Saturday, he will looking to approach the 28-year-old record of 48.26, which was last set by Obea Moore in 1993.

Simms is a 4-time winner of the 400m at the AAU Junior Olympic Games. The Plano, Texas-based athlete won the 14yo 800m on Wednesday with a personal best time of 1:57.32.
