Kick of The Week: Coach Cooper Invite Girls Mile Chase Down

- - -

The girl mile at the Brother Borgia Coach Cooper Invitational featured some of the top distance runners in the state of Kentucky. The top four athletes entered the bell lap all together. The group was led by Madison Central's (KY) Ciara O'Shea.

O'shea led for the majority of the race including 300 of the final 400 meters. With 200m to go -- after she appeared to be falling off -- Louisville Collegiate's (KY) Reese Ragland made a push around the outside.

Heading into the final 100m Ragland had moved from fourth to first. She would hold off the field to earn the win running 5:05.52 for a new Kentucky No. 1 and US No. 50 time.

Oldham County (KY) freshman Tula Fawbush would hold on to run a new Kentucky No. 2 time of 5:05.97. Fawbush's time also ranks US No. 5 for the freshmen class. O'Shea would end up placing third in 5:06.28.
