FloTrack spoke with Northern Arizona University freshman Nico Young after his 8K debut at the Silver State Collegiate Challenge in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday.
Young, a recent Newbury Park High school graduate and a 2019 Team Nationals winner, finished second overall to BYU's Conner Mantz, by just two seconds, in 22:52. BYU defeated NAU in the team scores, 49-54.
"We needed this to jumpstart and kind of like learn from this a lot, so we can use this for the next six weeks leading up to nationals," Young said.
