WATCH: Larry Josh Edwards Drops 4:10 In The 1,600m

At the Youngstown State Open on Jan. 16, University (WV) junior Larry Josh Edwards dropped a new US No. 1 time of 4:10.02 in the 1,600m, winning the heat in impressive fashion.

That time converts to a 4:11.47 full mile.

Overall, that new 1,600m personal record represented a major improvement from his last mile performance of 2020, when he ran 4:17.72. Edwards lost all of his outdoor sophomore season due to cancellations of meets over COVID-19, but his recent cross country season represented huge growth, with four sub-15:30 performances for 5K. And the run-off from that fitness already seems to be paying dividends.
