Madisonville-North Hopkins' senior consistently ran low 15-minute 5Ks this year. He broke through that barrier when he finished in the top 30 a the RunningLane National Cross Country Championships, stopping the clock in 14:57.20 for a new personal best. 

A week prior, he finished 19th at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions. Watts finished both caliber national meets with a 185 speed rating. 

Throughout his high school career, he improved at the Kentucky State Cross Country Championships. This season, he was crowned the state champion and finished with his fastest time on the course of 15:41.83, improving by 24 seconds year-over-year.
