As a 10-year-old, Juliah Bolden produced top performances in the 100m and 200m at the 2019 AAU National Club Championships. Bolden broke Briana William's meet record of 13.17 that was recorded back in 2012. Bolden crossed the line in 13.08 in the final.
Representing Miami Gardens Xpress Track Club (FL), Bolden lined up in lane four. When the starting gun went off, the talented sprinter blasted out the of blocks with low ankles and heels.
About two seconds into the race, Bolden came out of her drive phase and began sprinting with a 90 degree knee lift to efficiently execute her power.
Bolden continued to use this form and start to pull away from the rest of the competitors.
More than halfway through the race, it was Bolden's race to lose. She continued to add pressure to the rest of the field.
Even as a 10-year-old, she knows how to lean with her upper body at the finish line.
At this same meet, Bolden ran 26.61 to break Tia Jones' 200m record of 26.72. A few weeks later she ran a personal best of 12.87 at the AAU Junior Olympics in the semifinals. She became a national champion with a winning time of 12.80w. She placed second with a personal best in the 200m with a 26.57.
