Which high school athletes were the best performers all-time across the 800m and 1600m?
Alan Webb was arguably the greatest middle-distance performer in high school track and field history. The South Lake's (VA) graduate ran the eighth fastest 800m time in high school history at 1:47.74 and the fastest 1600m time by nearly six seconds at 3:51.83. His cumulative time of 5:39.57 is 11 seconds ahead of Sam Worley's second all-time cumulative mark.
For the ladies, Alexa Efraimson leads the all-time combined 800m and 1600m times. Camas' (WA) graduate ran the 800m in 2:03.26, the 15th fastest time in high school history, and the fastest 1600m time in high school history with a 4:33.29. Her cumulative time of 6:36.55 is about four seconds ahead of Sarah Brown's cumulative marks.
