Earlier in the week, we spoke about the unique shift of power happening in the men's middle distances at the collegiate level. The article touched on how rising seniors such as John Lester and Darius Kipyego -- along with a handful of Class of 2020 recruits -- have the potential to introduce the next era of half-mile talent in the NCAA.

But when it comes to middle distance dominance and a historical level of greatness, the women deserve a spotlight of their own -- both at the college and high school levels.

The past few years have produced records (and near records) in the women's 800 meters, specifically on the indoor oval. Texas A&M alum Jazmine Fray (Uniondale Kellenberg Memorial, NY) ran the indoor national record of 2:00.69 in the winter of 2017, which nearly fell this past winter...
