Alissa Braxton first got involved with track and field in the eighth grade, focusing primarily on events such as the 100 meter dash and high jump. The triple jump wasn't even in her scope.
"I never thought I would do the triple jump, I thought it was too complicated" said Braxton, the No. 29 recruit in MileSplit's ranking of the Class of 2020, who was chuckling at the memory. "Then my friend encouraged me to give it a try and I thought, 'Oh, this isn't that hard.'"
Four years later, that decision to venture into the triple jump turned out to be a pretty good idea for the University of Florida signee.
